More than 1.5 lakh people reached the World Book Fair on Saturday. Excited people arrived with their families on weekends and stood in long queues to enter inside Pragati Maidan. The surrounding roads remained jammed due to the large number of visitors arriving. It seems as if people are going to the book fair from all the streets of New Delhi. A huge crowd is expected to gather on Sunday, the last day of the fair. Heavy discounts are available on books here on the last day of the fair. There is a discount of up to 70 percent on many books.
In the fair, a group of luminaries from the literary world, teachers and book lovers presented a wonderful example of their love for books and reading. There was a long line at the entry gate of the fair on Saturday. People had to wait a long time for the shuttle service, but the visitors stayed here till late evening. There was a huge crowd everywhere at book stalls, international publishing platforms and live cultural events. People participated in various pavilions, ideological discussions, photo exhibitions and cultural programmes.
Books distributed free to children
A large number of children came to the children’s pavilion to participate in storytelling, drawing, calligraphy, art and drama. Braille books were distributed to children with special needs. In Hall-1, children were given audios, eBooks and free Braille books on showing UDID card. Vasundhara Bahuguna narrated the mythological story of Majuli Island in Assam.
A discussion session on Poetry Through the Lens of India was held at Multilingual India, Festival of Festivals. The topic of diplomacy in India-Pakistan relations was discussed in the India Literature Festival. Famous TV anchor Aditi Tyagi discussed with former Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria. Bisaria, meanwhile, discussed his book Anger Management: The Troubled Diplomatic Relationship Between India and Pakistan.
New books released
Books on history, foreign policy and mythology have become the special choice of the youth. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar’s book Hawaii India Matters, Akshat Gupta’s Hidden Hindu Youth are searching. Ramayana worth Rs 1500 is available for Rs 200. Authors Sankalp Shukla and K Raghav Bhandari’s book The Decade of Development, Dr. SC Mishra’s Jeevan, Jigyasa Aur Shastra, V. Shantaram and Monsoon were released on Saturday. All books are published by NBT-India. The audio book version of journalist Indrani Mukherjee’s book Unbroken the Untold Story was also launched here. Union Minister of State for Defense Rajkumar Ranjan was also present.

JP Pandey’s children’s story Neeli Rajkumari was launched at the World Book Fair. This book has been published by Advik Prakashan. This story collection contains entertaining and informative stories for children, which will introduce children to knowledge and science along with an overview of the Indian knowledge tradition.
